Get to know your teacher, Miss Katie!

Greetings, parents! My name is Katie Defaut, and I am a graduate student at Florida State University. A little history about me: I began my work in higher education in August 2002, enrolling at Florida State University. After having some difficulty deciding which major best suited my talents, I began volunteering in the local Leon County schools and at schools back home in Lake County. It was these experiences that made me decide to work with children. I graduated from FSU in December 2006 with a Bachelor's degree in Child Development.

After a spring semester internship, I began teaching at the Educational Research Center for Child Development. I learned a lot from the teachers that I worked with, but I knew that there was much more that I could learn about my profession. in January 2008 I returned to FSU to pursue my Master's degree in Early Childhood Education. I will be graduating in April 2010
